Sustainability, traceability and social responsibility as an industrial system

Faeda has developed an industrial model in which sustainability, traceability and social responsibility are integral to the very way the company operates. This structured system is based on defined processes, verifiable data, continuous monitoring and responsibilities distributed throughout the organisation.
Every stage of production — from the selection of raw materials to people management — is embedded within a framework designed to tangibly demonstrate the quality of the work carried out. Certifications, audits, control systems and internal procedures form the backbone of this model, making every activity measurable and verifiable. In this context, sustainability encompasses the process, the supply chain, the product, people and the local area simultaneously.
Traceability as an operational infrastructure
Traceability is the system’s first line of defence. At Faeda, it is designed as an integrated industrial infrastructure that accompanies every batch throughout the entire production cycle. Each pallet is identified by a computerised tag that serves as its identity card: origin, processing status, stages completed and destination.
The traceability system, linked to a management platform, allows real-time monitoring of the batch’s progress, ensuring continuity of information between stages, the absence of errors and full traceability of materials. All company departments — from production to quality control, right through to the sales department — can access the information and query the system.
The ICEC TS SC410 certification attests to the excellence of this approach, which makes traceability a concrete tool for control and accountability throughout the supply chain.
Qualified supply chain and animal welfare
Product quality is built from the ground up, through a carefully selected and qualified supply chain. Faeda operates a dual sourcing system — using both raw hides processed in-house and pre-tanned hides — but in both cases works exclusively with certified suppliers who can guarantee regulatory compliance, quality and traceability.
LWG Gold certification reinforces this system, introducing stringent criteria for the purchasing department as well and steering the supply chain towards reliable partners.
Animal welfare is also an integral part of this management approach. Although Faeda does not intervene directly in the rearing or slaughtering stages, it incorporates this aspect into its supplier selection criteria, requiring compliance with applicable regulations and protocols. Oversight is therefore ensured through the qualification of the supply chain, in a manner consistent with the company’s industrial role.
Controlled chemistry and safety
The management of chemicals is approached in a preventive and structured manner. Faeda operates in accordance with ZDHC protocols and in line with the standards required by leading luxury brands, selecting products from qualified suppliers and verifying their compliance through technical documentation and inspections.
Control is not limited to the receipt of products, but extends to process design: formulations are developed and tested to reduce environmental impact and optimise the use of substances. Chrome tanning is also managed in accordance with precise regulations, with control and recovery systems that ensure safety.
This approach protects both the end consumer and those involved in production, making chemistry a tangible driver of quality and sustainability.
Continuous verification system
The model is supported by Faeda through a multi-level control system. The in-house laboratory carries out physical tests on the hides in accordance with strict specifications, whilst chemical analyses are entrusted to accredited external laboratories, ensuring reports validated by a third party.
The instruments undergo periodic calibration, cross-checks and inspections by clients. In addition, there are frequent audits and environmental checks, including unannounced ones, on discharges and emissions.
This system ensures that every stage is verified and documented, making quality and sustainability demonstrable elements.
Integrated Process and Resource Management
Faeda’s production process is organised as an integrated system, in which all stages are linked via a single management platform. Every production step is tracked and every activity is guided and verified, ensuring operational continuity and consistent results.
Materials management involves the recovery of residues and the compliant disposal of waste, whilst technological innovation enables a reduction in production steps and resource consumption.
Sustainability is thus reflected in the very organisation of the work: an orderly, transparent and optimised process is also more efficient, controllable and consistent with the demands of the luxury market.
